This is a poem written for a Story Poem contest. It tells of a poor soul's warning.
I was out walking
On a cold November day
The shrill air bit my skin
And I puckered my lips
As I walked lonely down this very way

I've lived here for quite some time now
My corpse rotting with every day
My short life was ended
After 20 years of living
The anniversary is today

My solemn soul has come to warn you
Of the woman that came my way
Now please heed my warnings
Because on this very day
Her evil spirit will come for you
If you don't go away

She was a vicious monster
She tore me to shreds
Then ate the bleeding flesh off my body
With my frantic heart still pounding

So run stubborn boy
Don't just stand there run
Flee far away from this place
There’s no need to be brave

Don’t avenge my poor soul
Some monsters just eat you
Better a live coward then a dead one
There’s nothing to do but run
Because I’m already gone

It's too late for me
But you don't have to meet my same fate
I must stay here
To ward people from her awful face

It's black and green and blue and yellow
With two mouths of pointed, rotting teeth
They sit right where her eyes should be

One eye perches above her chin
Held in by bare gums

And her nose
Two flat slits
Spanning across her face

The flesh around her features
Is lumpy and bruised and bleeding
Large welts and spattered pus
Are splattered across her terrible face

So run stubborn boy
Don't just stand there run
Flee far away from this place
There’s no need to be brave

Don’t avenge my poor soul
Some monsters just eat you
Better a live coward then a dead one
There’s nothing to be do but run
Because I’m already gone

It's too late for me
But you don't have to meet my same fate
I must stay here, I choose to stay here
To ward people from her awful face
