The harvest is done. The rising moon
with reds and golden colors strewn,
repaints the earth in soft pastels
as summer wanes and winter swells.
The leaves reflect the orb’s festoon.
From mountaintop to deep lagoon
no part of nature is immune
from the insistent moonlight spells.
The harvest is done.
This arcane scene from night is hewn,
from ancient words and darkest rune,
though silent, they're heard like church knells.
Forewarned, the fields, the woods, the dells
prepare, for winter’s coming soon.
The harvest is done.
