A brief cosmic interlude between old lovers separated by unfortunate circumstances.
"Kismet Sparks and Stardust Showers"

For us, after all these years, there are now
many trekking miles empty of our boot tracks,
highways and byways leading nowhere,
and rivers shedding tributaries of tears.
We are adrift without boats, barges, and bridges.
Forested hills and rocky bluffs bar the way.

For us, time got lost on the wayward side of the wind,
intentions fell into inky depths of crevices,
absence wore a disguise of belonging,
and caring contemplated a disease called despair.

For us, because we reluctantly dismissed a rendezvous,
a tsunami of impossibilities to overcome became incredible.
An end to a lifetime and love's lifeline appeared inevitable.
Yet, suddenly and unexpected, kismet sparked.
A silent conversation connected infinite stars between us.
Showers of stardust refreshed and renewed our spirits.

For us, for a brief moment somewhere in the Universe;
time caught a wave on the breeze,
intentions declared daylight,
absence discovered a presence,
and caring remembered a purpose.

For us, still separated by circumstances;
miles of empty tracks wear dust,
maps of pathways are fading,
crying rivers sometimes overflow and grounds swell
with no means of crossing to reach each other.
Thick tree stands and mountain tops form a barricade.

Nevertheless, for us, after all these years,
a cosmic lifeline for these two old lovers ensue.
Kismet sends its sparks and intermittent
showers of stardust to refresh and renew our spirits.
