A Love Story.
That'll Be the Day

He met her in a diner in North Carolina
Loved how she tossed her head.
Laughin' with the truckers, joshin' with the farmers
When he asked her out she said.....

"That'll be the day....cowboy"

Still, they danced all night till the sun found them
Fate didn't stand a chance.
You could tell by the way they looked at each other
was the start of a great romance.

Years went by and the ranch ran well
Times he thought he owned a wishing well.
An' though he smelled of old horses 'n' camp fire smoke
he knew she loved him anyway. Cause she'd say....

"That'll be the day....cowboy"

He got all dressed up and drove into town
the day little Susie was born.
He just stood there in wonder, with that big old goofy smile
Told her five more would do just fine. And she said....

"That'll be the day....cowboy"

They said it was something she got from the blood
they gave her when Susie was born.
Though they told her she'd soon be fading fast
how could she be that strong.

Last time he saw her she was just a shadow
She could barely move her lips.
Told her how good she's lookin', she'll soon be coming home
Then reached down for one last kiss. As he told himself....

"That'll be the day....cowboy"

Now old cowboys gone and little Susie’s grown
She's a waitress in a small café.
She is attracted to a boy with a big old goofy smile
When he asks her out she'll say....

"That'll be the day.......cowboy”
