As You’re Walking Away

As you’re walking away,
don’t lose sight of what you leave behind,
the destruction left in your wake, that
others must now clean up.

When you are off chasing your dreams,
remember there are those of us who
put our dreams to rest so we could watch
as you followed your heart’s desires.

Everyone needs a dream to follow,
something they can call their own;
we aren’t supposed to forget
the help of others that got us there.

As you’re walking away,
don’t forget where you came from,
clean up your own messes, and
leave no damage in your wake.
