A short poem I wrote in the break room.
Have you ever wanted to sit and cry?
But in your dreams, oh you can fly.
And slay your demons big and small,
You never shy, always walk tall.
Until that thing pops in your mind,
And it won't leave I always find.
On waking, stays with you and then,
Remains all day, time and again.
Pops in your head while doing nowt,
You want to scream, you want to shout.
You try your best, ignore the thought,
Think of answers, end up with nought.
The thoughts remain, they bring you down,
There are no smiles, only a frown.
Do others notice? Do they care?
No they don't, so you don't share.
Each to their own, my problems mine,
And if you ask, I’ll say I’m fine.
My mind against me day and night,
Please leave me thoughts, you’ve got no right.
To make me feel so sad and blue,
I don’t know what I’m s’posed to do.
I don’t know what the day will bring,
Leaving bed is a great big thing.
Onwards and upwards, face is dry,
Oh please don't let them see me cry.
