Beautifully Broken

I am beautifully broken,
in so many ways, but
I refuse to allow my failings
to define who I am.

I have lived through hell,
and risen from the ash every time,
completely aware that
next time I fall may be the last.

Being beautifully shattered
isn’t always a bad thing,
allowing for growth of character,
and a chance to be reborn.

I can be whomever I choose,
live any way I want to live;
I can do anything I put my mind to,
without any limitations to hold me back.

I am beautifully broken,
in more ways than one, but
I will never allow the damage
to define who I am.
