This is just a snippet of some of my ramblings, let's see where it goes...... |
"What is a serial killer? Is it someone who just kills for kicks? Or is it someone who has a sickness and can't help but kill? Whatever the reason the topic of serial killers has fascinated many for a very long time. From H.H. Holmes, at the 1893 World's Columbian Expo in Chicago, to Jack the Ripper, in 1888 in the Whitechapel district of London, serial killers have been part of the human race for centuries. They aren't exclusive to just one part of the world, they are spread all over the globe from desolate out of the way places to the most populous cities on earth. It is estimated that anywhere between twenty-five and fifty are currently active in the United States alone." "What is even more scary is that not all serial killers are ever brought to justice. Jack the Ripper in London, The Zodiac Killer of Northern California during the late 1960's and early 1970's, are arguably the two most famous of these. Granted, science has come a long way since these prolific killers were in their prime, now with DNA testing it seems that it would be much harder for a serial killer to get away with his or her crime for very long. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. DNA can be found from blood, hair, skin and in some cases even oils left behind from simply touching an object can leave behind trace amounts of DNA." |
