A prison of my own making.
Welcome to My Cell

Welcome to my cell,
a prison born new each day,
protection from the tempest,
sweet darkness is my only friend.

Welcome to my cell,
unfeeling as I may be,
no more cares to bring me low,
loving steel is my comforting bed.

Welcome to my cell,
a jail born from others’ lies,
stale bread and tepid water,
are my only sustenance.

Welcome to my cell,
a prison born new each day,
protection from this cruel world,
my happiness in dull grey.
