Sun

the Sun has been described so that
it no longer exists
as a gas star
or as a child's drawing, confined
to a corner
or wearing sunglasses, impossibly
to shade it from itself

but today I saw it
furnace, flashlight
rise rise sink
it glimpsed the cold
white world

and decided to go back to sleep
