Comes the light, to lighten heavy a heart,
The day ends short, then night falls with a start.
Keepers all are we, yet letting go an art.
So hard to release, the blood-bond to part.
Comes the light, to lighten darkened souls,
We walk life's path, each to take on our woes.
Soon the path grows many a rock, a weed or thorn,
Then blood and bruise our feet become war torn.
Comes the light, to lighten a mind in doubt,
Our tangled wed, too complex to sort out.
Each writing our stories, to tell them often,
Until finally our script ends, shut-up in a coffin.
Comes the light, to lighten one by our side,
Soon they're gone, only our tears do abide.
Our song was one, our melody sweet,
“Never,” we said we'd utter “retreat” nor know of defeat.
Comes the light, a weak body to ignite,
We've run the race – too fast, just to fade out of sight.
Joy and sorrow, plenty and want, calamity and serenity,
Each had a day, then add them up to equal life's “mystery.”
Comes the light, beyond death's door,
What is this Light? – Spirit – Love – More.
