Just a little something I wrote a couple of years ago, for no particular reason. Enjoy! |
Waking up in a panic Late at night A lucid dream Still a wondrous fright. An exchange of vows We tied the knot But now I just beg And my knees are shot. Oooh, what can I do? I live my life vicariously through you. Echoes of laughter Ring in my ear Repeating things that I don't want to hear. And now you're gone but you won't disappear Let it all blow away. We don't want to age Yet we don't want to die In either event, it ends with a cry. So I sit and drink And feel sorry for myself And take the pain out on somebody else. As the birds they chirp And the babies scream Still it's so much better than what it seems So wake me up from this daunting dream. Oooh, what can I do? I live my life vicariously through you. Echoes of laughter Ring in my ear Repeating things that I don't want to hear And now you're gone but you won't disappear Let it all blow away. So excuse me if my words are too loud They might make you stronger Though they won't make you proud. And the songs won't play If you don't hear them through. If you waltz around and stare in a daze A straight, clear path becomes a complicated maze As the sun disappears with its fiery rays. Oooh, what can I do? I live my life vicariously through you. Echoes of laughter Ring in my ear Repeating things that I don't want to hear And now you're gone but you won't disappear Let it all blow away. |
