A poem.
It happened that night,
The world opening up -
Dust clearing
Like flecks in a
Snow Globe,
Eyes wide, desiring

But,
It was unwanted,
My heart caught twisted,
My hand empty
On your arm.

Through the room
I waited
For your eyes to follow -
I could not catch my breath;

The lie,

Which had dragged me in,
Hauled me
As if from a shipwreck
And then cut me loose;

I fell like a stone.

From the corner of my eye,
I saw your indifference -
You did not speak,
Your silence like a knife.

I could not escape.

This tower I have built,
From bricks,
From tar,
You shattered it like glass

Had I dreamed of princes?
Reality was
That crushing blow.

You dealt it
With your villain's hand.
