The Headless Killer has struck again. Only it's not who Susan and Harold think it is. |
Three or Four More A female kept begging as an ax came slicing into her neck. The begging stopped after the first strike. It took four whacks to get all the way through it. Blood spurting all around it with each whack. After the fourth one, her head fell over to the side with blood gushing out of her neck. Two thick gloved hands reached down and picked up that head. The head was then placed into a backpack. Blood already starting to soak the bottom of that dried blood backpack. A few seconds later and the backpack got swung onto the back of a very big person. That person walked into the nearby wooded area just as two cop cars and a detective’s car came racing in to stop within inches of the body. Detective Susan Pence got out of the driver’s side while Harold Baron withdrew from the passenger side. They scanned the area around them as they walked up to the headless body. Susan started going over stiff body looking through pockets while Harold studied the neck and shoulders where blood was still emerging. “This is definitely another killing by The Headless Killer.” Said Harold a few minutes later. “That makes victim number eighteen in the last six months,” continued Harold. “How many more late thirty women have to die before we catch this guy?” “Her name was Vivian Thompson,” said Susan. “She was thirty-six.” Harold got up and snatched the driver license from Susan before she had a chance to react. “Just as I thought. She was about the same height and weight as you, and look at that photo. It looks a lot like you. All of them have. Are you sure you don’t know who the killer is?” “Like I have told you a million times already, I don’t have any idea who this killer is. I haven’t dated a lot over the years but none of them have been crazy. At least they weren’t when we were dating.” “Maybe it’s a stalker. Have you gotten anything to indicate you have a stalker?” “Nope, nothing. I have thought about this ever since we noticed, I mean you noticed, the connection.” Susan got up and headed for the car. Harold walked right next to her. “I’m not saying I disagree with you. I just don’t have any idea who it could be.” “Have you noticed anyone following you or watching you from a distance?” Harold stopped next to the four police officers standing around the headless body. “Stay here until the ME shows up. They should be any time now.” After getting into the driver’s seat Harold continued. “I don’t like to say this, but everything points to you. It’s got to be someone from your past doing this.” “I don’t disagree with you either,” Susan said after getting into the passenger side of their car. Their car backed up and headed down the street. “I just can’t figure out who it could be.” =====-=====-=====-=====-=====-===== The backpack got placed on a blood stained counter top and the head removed from it. That head then got placed on a grill over a sink. A little blood still dripped from the neck, but not much now. Whoever was doing it opened a drawer next to the sink and pulled out a razor. After plugging in the razor it was used to shave all the hair off the head. Once done the razor got put back into that drawer. A blood caked kitchen knife got pulled out next. Whoever it was used that knife to cut a thin line into the head from the forehead back. Using that knife they peeled the skin off the head at skull lever. Nicking the skull every so often. The skin then got placed in a glass jar with a clear liquid in it on the other side of the double sink. About a half hour later that jar was full of floating skin pieces. The skinless skull then got picked up and placed in the second sink to be cleaned up with water. It's brains could still be seen within it. Using a hand held Red Devil those brains got sucked out through the opened mouth. The Red Devil then got reversed and the brain was put into another glass jar with liquid in it too. That jar got put into a refrigerator. After placing the jar in the refrigerator whoever was doing this went back to the skull and pick it up. The skull was then placed on a long shelf with seventeen other skulls. “I only need three or four more before I am me again,” said an unrecognizable voice. =====-=====-=====-=====-=====-===== “I have been thinking about it ever since we found victim number eighteen, and I still have no idea who it could be behind all these killings.” Susan sat down behind a desk in a very busy detective’s room. Harold sat at a desk opposite her. “The only one I think that it might be was Wilton Kance. He was obsessed with me, but it can’t be him.” “Why not? It sure does sound like it is this Wilton person.” “It’s not Wilton. He was in an automobile accident about nine months ago.” “He’s dead? I don't understand. Is that what you are trying to tell me?” “No, he isn’t dead. Wilton suffered from ninety-five percent burns. The doctors were shocked he didn’t die in the accident. They don’t know why but he is still alive. He went into a coma just after he got to the hospital and he has been in one ever since then.” “Let’s go check him out. I’ll bet a weeks salary that he’s not there anymore.” =====-=====-=====-=====-=====-===== A microwave oven started beeping and a hand opened it. That hand took out a plate with brains on it. An empty jar sat next to the microwave. The plate was taken to a nearby table where someone started eating the brains. “Brain food. Just what I need to keep me going.” After eating those brains that someone got up and went over to the sink to dispose of the plate. Then they picked up the skin jar and took it over to a table in front of a mirror. A second later the jar got opened and a piece of skin was taken out. Still dripping with a wet liquid that piece of skin got placed on the face in the mirror. =====-=====-=====-=====-=====-===== “You owe me a week's salary. I told you he would be here.” Susan and Harold stood just outside a hospital room. Harold looked through a window while Susan stared at him through the door. “Are you sure that it’s him. With all those bandages it could be anyone in there.” “It’s him. I’d recognize those evil red eyes anywhere.” Just then nurse Becky Guage screamed. Susan and Harold ran up the desk behind them shouting. “What’s going on and What happened?” “It’s one of our patients,” said Becky. “She’s missing again.” Susan and Harold looked at the nurse then toward Wilton’s room. When they looked at each other they both mouthed the word ‘she’ at almost the same time. “Who is she? and Why is she here?” Harold and Susan asked. “Andrea Robins is a burn victim too. In fact, she was in the same car as Mr. Kance. Only her face was the only damage done, but it’s permanent damage. Poor woman. There’s nothing we can do for her. The damage was just too bad. She’s always going to look like that. That’s why she runs away every so often. We don’t know why she does it, but she does.” Harold looked at Susan who looked back. “How many times has she does this?” “I don’t really know. It’s been about two dozen times in the last eight months I think.” Susan looked shocked. “If we are both thinking the same thing, and I bet we are, that could mean there are some other headless victims out there we don’t know about.” It took them almost an hour to find her searching the hospital from top to bottom three times, but they finally found her in an unused section of the basement that wasn’t even used for storage anymore. They ran into the open doorway with their guns drawn and pointed them at the woman within. Susan stepped back a few steps in shock when the woman turned around to face them. Her face was partially covered with different sized layers of skin. The rest of it looked like a big red bumpy pulsating mess. Harold and Susan saw the picture next to the mirror at the same time. “That’s a picture of me. I remember Wilton taking it. Either he was so obsessed with me he found someone who looked exactly like me or I have a twin sister I didn’t know I had.” Word Count = 1,483 |
