A ghazal poem
By Night – A ghazal

You sink into the earth, grass mounds confine by night
Losing your grasp; depression, all goes blind by night

There’s a shadow over there. It’s ruthless… There too!
Swerve here, shuffle there. Tiptoe through tulips by night

Should the sky be so looming, cauldron a-brewing;
Answer my questions! I’m here! Communing by night!

Let the clouds grow bolder desperate, in search
Of their sun - their controller, balance gone by night

Retreat, shelter, hide in artificial glamour;
Impede on reality, you’re a spectre – by night

Stars navigate aside us, compasses pointing
To prismatic spectrum, all encompassed by night

Rise above! Bathe in sweet lustre – she’ll come again.
On her dark horse; the conductor (trickster) – by night.
