Just A Bichon's Point of View

Guard the house. I'll be back.
Guard. I know guard. Keep track.
She's leaving me again. Don't go.
(sounds of barking)
Come back! You forgot me!

Guard. From my perch atop the couch I watch:
the street, the yard, the tree.
(sounds of barking)
Hey you! You do not live on my road.
I do not give you permission to walk on my street.
Go away!

Glad they listened. Oh, there's the fat furball. I like the furball.
I want to play with the him. He never wants to play with me.
Stupid, useless critter. Is she back yet?
Thirsty. Water low.
Hungry. Mouthful of chow.

Walk away from bowl.
Drop food. Eat one at a time.
Repeat. Repeat.
Is she back yet? Better check.
Assume couch position.

(sounds of barking)
Lab! Big black lab. No master. Go away!
My street. My mailbox! My tree.
You better not chase that furball.
Good move, furball That'll teach him!
Furball on perimeter check.
Good team.

Nice out. Want out.
Car. She's back.
(sounds of barking)
Door. Which door?
Dad's door! Run through house.
MOM!!! You said you'd be right back.
You were gone forever!

Oh. Belly rubs.
I love belly rubs.
And tail scritcheses too!
Yes, I was good.
Yes, I guarded the house.
Yes, I want out!

Stupid lab.
Thinks he can mark my post?
Hah! Overmark. Mine.
Furball! Yup, same old furball.
Wanna play? Please play?

Ball! Mom's throwing my ball.
Get the ball. Bring it back.
I love this game. Get the ball.
Where'd it go? There it is. Bring it back.
SQUIRREL!!!

He runs too fast. Stupid squirrel.
Time to go in already?
Treats! Silly routine.
Sit, offer my paw. Dance pretty.
The things I do to get treats around here.

Mom's in the kitchen.
Floor Patrol.
She's dropped food. Where is it? Where is it?
Got it. No food escapes this perfect nose.
Drop more. Please?

She took the food into the big dog bed.
Nap sounds good. I'll share my pillow with Mom.
No, don't stretch out, I just got comfy
in the crook of your legs.
Rest head on Mom's arm. Look soulful.

Mom looks stressed. Lick her arm.
Licks sooth. Tired. Hard work
guarding the house. She just went out;
she's tired? Sleepy.
Like naps with Mom.
