Lemmings

. Confusion

Emotions tumble like lemmings down

the mountains of my soul

Warm bodies wriggling and writhing as they leap

towards nothingness and certain destruction

The delicate flowers which usually grow on these slopes

are trampled in their rough passing


Lost

Amid the swarm I stand alone

buffeted by the surging motions of emotions

The lemmings surround me and I am afraid

to step one way or the other

Afraid to be pulled under their tiny feet

and dashing claws, to be shredded beneath their fury

Fear

Roots me to the soil like mountain thyme

as time rushes past on furry feet

As each moment passes I feel my grasp

loosening in the onslaught of warm blooded emotions

Knowing I must decide a pathway before the

riotous lemmings of emotions push me off the mountain
