Fear and failure are just an illusion.
Climbing the Mountain

The door before her was tall and made of solid oak…a formidable gateway into another world. Becca paused with clenched fists, summoning the courage to move ahead, looking for the inner strength to follow through. For all she knew, crushing failure lurked on the other side or worse, a pack of wolves waiting to devour her.

She’d been the first to make it this far, the first in a line of McPherson’s to achieve such victory against overwhelming odds. She’d fought hard and faced every obstacle and adversary that stood in her way, shadows on the long path to the top of the mountain. Still, she persevered. Would they be ready for her? Would they be prepared for her to shake the very foundations of the castle they built? Would she?

Becca wrung her hands and considered how to proceed, anticipating every challenge and confrontation she could potentially encounter. No one she knew had ever made it this far. She was the first among her friends to defy the traps, break through the barriers, and challenge the pitfalls that were designed to ensure she would fail. Yet, here she was, on the precipice of victory.

Finally, she tightened her armor, the courage she wore as a shield. She honed her blade, the intellect that saw the journey for what it was. Becca focused her breathing and placed her hand on the door, stepping through to meet a sea of waiting eyes. Then, she saw some of them smile and felt her pride surge. All of them rose at once to congratulate her. Taking her seat as CEO at the boardroom table, she was finally at ease, realizing that all the obstacles were just an illusion and, in truth, the only one who could stop her was herself.
