Those were the last words she ever said as she lost control of the car on a cold winter night, she knew she should have called Danny and so that's what she did.

The pain of Carissa's death was to big of a toil for Danny to hole on to, he planned his entire life around her and now just as she said "I love you" she was gone. He had so many hopes and dreams for them. He wanted her to be the one his kids called mom and the one he kissed at the alter but all to soon the things we love are taken away from us in a blink of an eye and we can't even understand the pain.
