This is just a short report about Benjamin Rush that I did for school.

Benjamin Rush was one of the most influential people during the time of the Revolutionary War, but in modern times he is not talked about as much as other founding fathers. He was born on January 4, 1746 and died on April 19, 1813. He was educated at Princeton University and then at Edinburg University to get is medical degree. He was an academic, doctor, and writer. He was born in Byberry Township Pennsylvania and died in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. His nickname was the father of American psychiatry. He was a member of the continental congress and signed the Declaration of Independence.
Benjamin Rush was a big help in the Revolutionary War. He was appointed Surgeon General of the Middle Department of the Continental Army. He also treated a lot of soldiers in many different battles.

After the Revolutionary War Dr. Benjamin Rush went back to teaching. He was thought to have taught 3,000 students. In 1783 he also founded Dickinson College in Carlisle, PE. He is also known for writing the first psychiatry text book, Medical Inquiries and Observations of the diseases of the Mind. Hints the nickname father of American psychiatry.
Benjamin Rush was very political he was an abolitionist, stood for women's rights, and stood for humane treatment to the mentally disabled. Benjamin Rush's life was a picture of compassion, standing for what you believe, defending the defenseless, and patriotism
