Just look at my Profile - and you will see what humans I am talking about.

The Global Globe

Jaiysin used his lower arms and elbows to lean onto a podium. His feet a few inches above the ground. Just like his Hover Chair behind him. The podium was center stage on a broken down stage in a falling apart outdoor entertainment center.

Behind, and either side, of Jaiysin was ten other males and females. All of them were seated in portable chairs. He was the only one with a Hover Chair. Surrounding him in entertainment chairs, and portable chairs on a playing field of some kind, were several hundred thousand Currons.

Before he spoke Jaiysin cleared his throat in front of the extended Loud Speaker Tube under his chin to get the chaos in front of him to calm down. “As all of you know from history most populated planets in the universe celebrate a remembrance of their fallen warriors in battle. Some of them are for only one day. And for a lot it two or three days – usually at an end of a week. But for a few it’s a week. Curron is one of those planets.”

Jaiysin took a deep breath before he continued. “Why do we celebrate a week. It’s because it took a week of heavy fighting before he got our freedom. Each year during this week we celebrate our victory over the ruthless, vicious, heartless, more advance humans.

After a brief twenty-minute adjournment Jaiysin continued his speech. Some of the audience got up to stretch. And some had to use the Personal Care Facilities. A lot went to get something to eat or drink. But all Jaiysin did was fall back into his Hover Chair – and relax.

“The humans had superior weapons. They had what they called Laser Balls, Laser Bullets, Laser Bolts and Laser Beams. And on the ground they had hand weapons. We had primitive weapons compared to them.” Jaiysin needed help getting back on the podium.

“For thirty-five years we fought back against them. The only reason we lasted so long was because we outnumbered them a thousand to one. We also wanted control of Curron more than they did too.” Jaiysin almost slipped off the podium.

“It took us almost thirty-five years but we finally stopped them from destroying our planet. And for the past fifty years we have celebrating that victory in a week long remembrance of those we lost in those battles. But we haven’t just been celebrating our victory. We have been rebuilding our lives.” Jaiysin looked out at his attendees.

“First we rebuilt our Communities and then our homes. And finally our businesses. We have come a long way. But we still have a long way to go. I’m here to talk about our future. There is one thing we haven’t been rebuilding. We have to rebuild our warriors too. They want me to talk to you about getting more warriors to protect our planet just in case the Humans return – or someone else returns.” Jaiysin pointed behind him with both hands when he said that last line. “But I’m not going to do that.”

Jaiysin paused for a few minutes. “I don’t think the humans are going to be coming back. They got what they came for. All of our resources. Once they got that they left. While their fighters were fighting us the other humans were stealing our resources. And they used the fighting to cover it up.”

“As for someone else invading us I don’t think that’s going to happen either. One look at our planet and they are going to move on. There are a lot of other planets out there to invade – if the humans haven’t been to those planets too.” Jaiysin is starting to wear out. It can be seen by the way he’s leaning again the podium. And the way he’s talking.

That time it was Representatives behind him that insisted he take a break. And this time it was a two hour one. While he was resting the other Representatives took over the speech making. When Jaiysin returned the podium was returned to him.

Jaiysin thanked the other Representatives. Then he returned to his speech. “I was trying to remember where I left off. And on the way back here from my Mobile Hover I did.” Jaiysin paused again. “We do need to build up our weapons though – just in case I am, and the others like me, are wrong about another invasion.”
“There was thirty trillion Currons before the humans came here. And now there are about two billion of us left. Without weapons to protect us our race will be dead.” Jaiysin was pausing a lot more now.

Just then a large ball floated toward Jaiysin. It stopped just before hitting him. Jaiysin looked at it – and smiled. “As you already know this is The Globe. Each Community has one. All you need to do is touch it. And you can see if a loved one is on the death list. But what if it’s a friend, lover or they lived in another Community you couldn’t remember them – until now.”

“For the past fifty years I have been fighting the World Government to get that list so we could remember anyone we wanted to remember. Some said it couldn’t be done. And some said it just cost too much to do it. I never gave up. And it finally paid off. This year we can all remember anyone.” Jaiysin was the first to touch The Global Globe. When he did several thousand names appeared before his eyes.

Jaiysin was back in his Mobile Hover. He sat in a Long Chair. And he looked really bad. “Warriors don’t need The Global Globe. We will never forget those Warriors we lost.” Jaiysin touched the side of his head. Then looked at a wall next to him. One by one images of those he lost start to appeared. He died a few minutes later with a smile on his face.
