Though the day was chilly and rain threatened, the Festival still had a great turn out. |
September 13 Prompt: ▼ Eden Mills Writer's Festival Though weather cold And rain spattering at times Throughout the day The crowds came and listened As authors raised their voices And read to chase away What could have been A miserable day Smiles and laughter Writer’s and bookies Of all sorts Drew together to share Literary delights That warmed our hearts And our minds Buying books is never a sad thing Getting them signed And talking to the authors Is quite a glad thing. Here’s to another successful Eden Mills Writer’s Festival I know I will be going Back next year But for now I will read my new books And cheer I am so happy That I live here Where authors gather To read and share. Each September I will never fear The festival will Be back next year. 34 lines. Author's note: Not sure if this is really a happy poem, but I had an amazing day and wanted to share. I bundled up in layers and was really quite fine. The Eden Mills Writer's Festival has just celebrated its 28th year! It was founded by Leon Rooke.
