Some loves can only end in one way. A tragic poem about one such love. |
-Eyes Opened Wide- by Keaton Foster Upon The ground No breath Nor sound Eyes Opened wide Looking up Paler Is the blue Darker Is the truth Life So it be said Is gone Left from you Slipped Right on through Out there Into nothing So damn clear You’ve gone And here I remain Tragic the case I keep saying What a waste Beautiful Is this face Frozen in death Primed for decay Never again Will it look As it does Eyes Opened wide Peering off Unconcerned About me About us Fading Is the blue Darkness In full bloom Emptiness Is in there Bouncing around Tearing holes Cratering The mind Silence is all That is behind All that remains Off to Heaven You’ve gone While I Remain here In my own Created hell My own gestated Birthed idea That I cannot Live without you Yet here I am Very much alive Breathing Seeing Realizing What I’ve done What I’ve become Where you lay Is where You’ll be placed Deeper still Way on down To a depth That I alone Am capable of I’ll plant the world Down upon you By no chance Or happenstance Will you be found They’ll be questions Lots Where did you go How could you leave There never will be An answer Not one that any Of those concerned Can come to grips with They will suffer And so will I Because I loved you Thus I lived you And now I alone Have killed you With passion Comes anger With a love like ours There is always a chance You brought me here To tell me it’s over Just as quick I assured you That it was Eyes Opened wide I know that no part Of what was once you The core of your being Remains inside Empty is your vessel With a slide of my hand And the labor Of such an unrelenting love It is time my dearest To close those eyes Forever and ever… Eyes Opened Wide Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2015. |
