A poem of betrayal, loss, and realization.
I was violently awakened
rudely stirred
and shaken,
snatched away from the perfect dream
eternal
or so it had seemed.
like a shadow crossing the sun
or bullets being loaded
into a gun,
like a menacing presence
looming just out of view,
a threat below the surface
about to break though,
Truth's ugly fingers tore into my dream
of all the world's dangers
she is the queen.
she shattered my flawless world of lies
and ripped the veil
away from my eyes.
Now I see
the big, cold, hard world of sharp edges
we call reality.
I run through the endless maze of life
in the thick
of a bitter strife,
chased by the memories I can't escape
terrible monsters
of no shape.
I run and run
tripping and falling through the infinite black
but in the end I will be caught
for the fury of Truth will never slack.
