Some love can only end one way. All that was great, all that was true, turned to ashes. |
-Burn Baby Burn- by Keaton Foster Ignition Rendition Flammable The institution Burn baby burn Fuel to the flame An inferno As always In the making From the ashes Will come All things new Said difference You and I No longer alive No longer in love Separated by time Mere seconds defined Lengthier for one of us Ever so did we scream For mercy did we plead Marginalized Will be the crime They’ll say With straight faces That you and I Got what was deserved Our rite of passage From this life to the next Your soul did fly My soul sank ever so low By God you’ll stand Within the darkness Continually I’ll fall Too much Was what we had Too strong Was what we shared It could only end The way that it did Death do us part Severed was the rope That bound us tight To each other’s ideals We wanted it to be right But certainly it was not You may have called it off Decided that what we had Was not enough That it needed an end But it was I That was certain That what we had Was too damn much The idea of a life Without you I could not grasp So here we are Fuel for the flame Burn baby burn From something to dust From flesh and blood To ashes upon the wind Never again will we You and I Feel as we once did Because unlike life In death we will feel The truest nothing of all I wish it could Without question Have been different But I understood Probably better than you That it could not I held the match Poured the fuel Ignited it all The end of us Via a poetic death Tragically grotesque Horrifically adept The end as seen by me Was justifiably correct Burn baby burn… Burn Baby Burn Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2015. |
