Down the barrel of a gun I have seen into the heart and mind of death and its absoluteness |
-In My Scope- by Keaton Foster In my scope I don’t know He, an enemy A human being That must now die So that I can live He’s coming this way Walking towards death Oh the heck I’m sure he has a family Probably a lovely wife And some handsome kids Definitely someone Will miss him now And long after I kill him Ready I steady my aim Center mass Best chance at a kill Mortality in full bloom Quickest method of doom I count down from three Breath, relax, aim, squeeze My rifle barks out loud Before the sound hits him The slug does its job He falls right where he stood Never again to rise Never again to advance He had no real chance I am a professional killer And this is no amateur hour In my scope He was sent towards his end There are others just like him Ready to die for a cause And there are others just like me Ready to kill to protect our own God above will judge us all Some more harshly than others I know what I’m doing And I understand why Such things must be done Who is right is not so clear But who is justified is absolute It always comes down to It’s him or I In my scope I see the truth of what People will do In the name of survival I feel bad about killing him I feel worse about killing All the others that came before I’ll have to answer for this I know it in my heart And can feel it in my bones His time was this time Mine will be another The battlefield is wide A narrow chance leads to me A wider chance to become lost Stands in between I’ll search for targets And kill them as need be In my scope I can see life and death And I know the deciding factor It’s always gonna be them or me I’ll take the shot Until I have no shots left… In My Scope Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2015. |
