Lives well lived? In whose opinion my parents lived a great life! |
A life well lived Unfortunate circumstances bring more awareness to life and Death makes life real. My parents lives were like a fairy tale. We should of known life was to good to be true. Life was good, brand new house, brand new Camaro, brand new truck, two great jobs, two great incomes and like I said life was good. My parents met at 14 and were married with children by the age of 18. Not to many people get to live their lives with their high school sweethearts, my parents did. Life was a struggle and nothing came easy. Growing up we were poor and moved from house to house. Until things started to look up. Life got better for my parents. They caught a break. Got that new house and that perfect portrait society labels as a good life. Until the summer of 2014. Cancer struck my family and hit my father hard. Just at 49 he was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung cancer our jaws were on the floor! We were in disbelief as our family started our battle against Cancer, my father started to have to fight for his life. It was a short battle as cancer took over his body in the blink of an eye. We watched his mental and health status deteriorate slowly. Life was starting to have a new meaning. A new outlook from us all! Cancer took my father in just a short three months. It was over that fast he never had a chance. A month after losing the love of her life my mothers brain began to bleed. She had tumors that grew on her brain, Melanoma cancer hit my mom with a vengeance. You see both my parents were fighting cancer at the same time but we never knew. God why? We lost my dad before we knew, now mom is fighting without him by her side but she still has us girls by her side. Missing her one and true love she's now on hospice waiting to reunite. Her battle is getting harder to fight she is hanging on with all her might! She has a lot of courage and strength to fight. Life is not promised tomorrow, it's not even promised through the night! So what is a good life or what is a well lived life? That is a question not a statement. And who holds the answers God, not you and not me. One day we will meet the creators of us all and he will be able to answer that question. Did we live well? |
