I must return to a time before all the pain and darkness, this is my chance.

My crooked spine
Slowly unwinds
A distant clock
No longer ticks
Broken
By these hands
I refuse
To accept fate
I’m in denial
Of my own hate
I won’t continue
No longer
Will I live as is
Simply put
I just won’t
The pain
Often severe
But to me
It’s now quite clear
That even the most
Grotesque of injuries
Can be healed
Because now
Above all else
I understand
That I can forgive
That I can forget
And I can move past
All that I am
And become
Something else
A newer being
A return to innocence
God above
Will accept me as is
His loving arms
Will embrace me
He’ll forget
All that I’ve said
And all that I’ve done
Blindly he’ll forgive
If I have any chance
I must be like him
In such ways
Of absolute forgiveness
And splendid forgetfulness
Those who hurt me most
Are gone from this earth
The only thing
That keeps them here
Is me
No longer
They are free
And so am I
A return to innocence
My truest salvation
I can be redeemed
I know that now
In my heart
And in my soul
I’m free to be
A beautiful release
A change of fate
A renewal of faith
I have a chance
To be born again
To be restored
To as I was before
This, for me is
A return to innocence…
