5/14/15--The ballad of the Blueshirts. For all my Blueshirt Underground Radio friends. |
Come my friends and let me tell you About a team so fair. A team which no one would believe For wins they’d truly dare. The Captain shouted, "All aboard!" All lines pledged to the fight, With the chalice of Lord Stanley Set firmly in their sight. The hard battles raged on and on; Their hearts grew desperate, And all of those in Rangerland Felt down and desolate. It goes on to another game Another fight to win. Can the boys fight their way back On ice so razor thin? Down three battles with just one win, The King knew what to do. He fought bravely for all his boys; His blood running true blue. Kreider stood tall against the foe; Never did he lose heart. Paving the way for overtime, And hope got a kick start. And the Captain…Oh, my Captain… Don’t count him out just yet. He fought back to lead the way with The puck firmly in net. All the naysayers in the world Didn’t know what to say. How dare the boys in blue come back, And find the heart to play! So it goes there's another game; Another fight to win. The boys keep fighting their way back From the edge where they'd been. Kreider rode on his swiftest steed, (A white knight in disguise), Alongside the brave Nash and Boyle To try and win the prize. But the enemy would not yield Fighting back oh so strong Overpow’ring the defense Our boys thought, “What’s gone wrong?” If only the boys could hold on, And live to see the dawn! So the King pledged to see the boys Not end up dead and gone. And here we go...another game; One more fight they must win. Truly the boys fought their way back From the place they had been. The last battle loomed before them The stage already set The boys took up the challenge of Ovi’s guaranteed bet. Both sides held strong throughout the fight; A nail biter for sure. Our boys in blue did not give up; They fought through to endure. Undaunted in the face of loss, Hayes battled valiantly Alongside the King and Stepan; They all fought gallantly. The battle’s won, but not the war; The chalice still in sight. Another battle will begin; So, now we sit tight. A toast we raise to the Blueshirts; They fought through to the last, And their enemy is now left Far away in the past. The boys have battled through it all; They have passed the test. Onward to another battle; They have been deemed the best. The moral of the story Is simple, but it’s true No matter when or where the fight You don’t mess with the boys in blue. |
