If I gave you my heart, would you love me...or leave me? |
If I gave you my heart Would you see scars and cracks? All of the things that have been left behind From people I've loved in the past? Would you feel it trembling, As it rested in your care? Would it end with me happy, Or with me dying in despair? Would you add to the damage, And put your own marks on my life? Or would you stay with me forever, And plow through the strife? Would you kiss away the memories, The ones I'd rather erase? Would you skim your lips over mine And wipe the tears from my face? Would you sew up the cuts? And bandage my breaks? Would you make me forget Every sob and tiny ache? If I give you my heart, Will you give me yours? We could heal them together, And we could fight our wars. We'd win the battle, We'd win the fight. I'd whisper "I love you, 'Will you stay with me tonight?" I won't break your heart, No... that I'll never do. In return, I ask you to remember this: I'll always love you. |
