Between you people
Such idyllic mandrills
Swinging
From tree to tree
Watching the sky
Fearing the ground
Gravity is no deity
But a God unto itself
The impact could be great
With every calculated risk
Comes adequate reward.

Between you people
Such quasi sheeple
Down upon your knees
While I’m right here
In the middle of madness
And an obligatory existence
I am unwilling to risk
But I am also incapable
Of accepting things as is
I feel sorry for you
But infinitely more
I feel sorry for myself.

Between you people
There stands reason
Logical inferences
And post traumatic
Masochistic tendencies
Automatously set
To further an agenda
That people like me
Those in the middle
Straddling resemblance
And madness
Will have no part in.

Between you people
You, the ones up high
The ones so very low
I can see much
Via my neutral perspective
I understand what you’ll do
When push comes to shove
I know that like any beast
The emotion that you admit
Can be turned off like a switch
The kindness you carry
Can be dropped just as quick
All that you are or pretend
Can easily be betrayed.

Between you people
I exist within myself
I am unlike you
And almost everyone else
I know
That there are a few
Those not monkey
Those not vile creatures
Those just as brave to resist
And those unwilling to accept
That the words of humankind
Are simply not enough.

Between you people
I stand defiant and true
I won’t climb any higher
I won’t fall any lower
I’ll remain as I am
As all of you change
Between great heights
And drastic depths
I’ll study each detail
Each moment in time
I’ll express what I see
What I know…
