A poem about this jungle we call Earth |
The Birds Mock Me Because I Cannot Fly The birds mock me because I cannot fly, the cattle glare and look with appall, the insects chitter because I'm the worst of them all. The cheetahs snicker because I can never keep up when it's time to race, and to the owls, I can't even show my face. The canaries scoff at my off pitch voice, and the monkeys cackle at my failure to climb, and even nature laughs, a cruel and pitying laughter, because I do not know who I am at all, and there is no place for someone like me in this jungle. |
