Cool prompt. I actually did research for this one. The Yuleman- an Icelandic folklore.
{{b}center}Yuleman{/b}

Lock your cupboards
and clean off the shelves,
close up your doors
and seal up your house-
today is the dawn of December the twelfth.

When greedy trolls
come out one by one,
stealing and thieving
til’ Christmas is done.

The Yuletide Lads are tricksters and devilish too.
Stealing milk, spoons and biscuits is what they all do.
Thirteen naughty misfits who come out to play-
Each Christmas season, their tricks to display.

Thirteen days before Christmas,
they’re here to harass.
They come from the mountains
and hide in the grass.

They put treasures into good children’s shoes
or rotten potatoes depending on you.
They’re just plain bad but nothing to fear-
of their mother however you must be aware.

Her name is Grýla, she comes out at night
grabbing up naughty children,
who stand no chance at a fight.
Once in the mountains and into her cave
she’ll eat all the children-not a one will be saved.

So all you wicked munchkins you better behave.
Listen to mums and your dads,
and not just today.

Beware of the Yule Cat, it’s evil too.
Don’t ask for toys-
asking for clothes, is what you should do.
If you don’t receive clothing this Christmas year,
the Yule Cat will eat you-
it’s a truth to be feared.

The Yule Lads are scheming and annoying as well
A devious bunch that make havoc and hell.
In truth they’re quite harmless so there’s no need to be scared-
except that their mother and pet are sure to be near.
