Desperation in a Synchronicity poem.
Photograph of a girl with an apple with spikes coming out of it.

You were the apple of my eye
and I believed in you without
question.

From girl next door to movie star,
I followed you and left my friends
behind.

Parents fussed and fumed, but I chose
to pursue my acting career
with you.

From honeymoon to Hollywood,
the fancy gowns on red carpets
dazzled.

Arm in arm, we went together,
waltzing across the stage of life,
until

moments of doubt crashed our party,
as your hungry eyes began to
wander.

Dark shadows of betrayal crept,
where bright rays of success had been
before.

Now, I stab you in effigy,
but nothing I do can relieve
the pain.

Author's note:

Synchronicity is the confluence of two or more things (thoughts, experiences, elements, etc.) to bring a moment of special enlightenment, as described in the following link: http://intuitivepaths.wordpress.com/2012/06/09/about-synchronicity-2/

The Synchronicity poetry form, invented by Debra Gundy, consists of eight three-line stanzas, each unrhymed with a syllable pattern of 8, 8, 2, respectively. The Shadow Poetry description ( http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/synchronicity.html ) says it should be written in the first person voice, but the example presented is clearly in third person. *Rolleyes* The last two stanzas should contain some kind of twist to create that moment of enlightenment.
