A winded poem about leaving things to the flame and making my much needed escape.

-A Space To Burn-

In a hole
In the ground
No one
Nothing
Is around
A space to burn
Forever
I have yearned
For this night
For the darkness
Of my plight
All of it
To be down there
Where it
Cannot escape
Where it
Will not get away
There is no choice
No additional chance
Now it must face
Its impending doom
It must become
Ashes lumped
A pile of refuse
A mound of truth
The fuel
Has been added
The ignition
Forthcoming
Glorious will it be
This
A thing of dreams
A wanting relief
That must now be
Goof enough
The hole is deep
The sides
Very steep
Down there
To impossible depths
All that hurts me
Has been thrown
There
Certain madness
Brutal fears
What was done
What I’ve become
Everything
And all of it
Down there
A space to burn
The smoke will be
Thick
Obscuring
Leaving me thinking
Pondering
Just for a second
If I did what was right
That same second
Has since left me
Right where I am
So ready
Never again
Will I regret
Will I ponder
What if
The ashes
Unswept
To be forever kept
No one will know
No one
But me
And
I’ll never tell
I’ll never return
To this sort of hell
This is my one chance
My one acceptance
That will never become
A thing of resentment
I must act
I have to persist
After this
After all has been spent
For me alone
There will be a new path
In an opposing direction
I’ll dare roam
Changing my fate
Restating
The importance
Of my single existence
Finding both
Purpose and meaning
All the while
Understanding
That they are separate
Unrelatable things
I have suffered
For far too long
I know what
Must be done
And I’m about to do it
A space to burn
Has been dug
Ignition will come
Fittingly
Just as
There is a news day’s sun
A rays of light
Will ignite
Such a ray will start
The chemical reaction
Of turning everything
From something of both
Weight and substance
Into something
As light as a feather
Something that
Regardless of weight
Or lack thereof
Will never find a way
To again escape
I’ll be free as dawn comes
And then
Into another sunset I’ll roam
A space to burn…
