About the shadows in my soul.
Everywhere I look, there are shadows
Even the brightest places have become tainted with darkness

All of my smiles are cracked in two
And the scars on my wrists stand out against the papery skin

I hear your name in whispers when I'm close to sleep
And I drift upon dreamy waves with eyes all filled with tears

My legs cannot hold the weight of your loss
And every breath I take is laden with sorrow

Everyone around me has fallen to pieces
I watch as they try to build themselves up again

I keep a score of their failures;
They outweigh the triumphs

They look down at where I lay, in my pile of broken bits
And laugh despite the fact that they are broken too

Crows swirl in the depths of every eye that looks like yours
And resentment wears on my soul like a bitter perfume

I wonder at my life, and when it became so bleak
While your coffin glares at me like a glittering diamond painted black

And when I close my eyes to keep in the tears and keep out the pain,
I can hear you voice telling me goodbye

It is in those moments, when that sound fills my head,
That I know I will not overcome this pain
