Collection of exercises for assignment 1
1a - Alliteration

Winds whisper wishes while the wild wilts and withers.
Dreaming of darkly dancing down dank depositories.
So....someone stole Sally's superhero stuff Sunday.
Madness makes mere moments magically meaningful.

1b - Assonance

It's easy to fuss about the upper crust because it can be rough when there's not enough.
To believe and seize that which you feel you need can become greed with ease.
To hate one's fate is a common mistake, for the universe thanklessly ranks.
The Vikings hiked through the night with biased desire to find something to light their fire.

1c - Consonance

The fickle pickle chuckled at the chicken who couldn't quickly cluck.
Great grievances are ground deep into our graves.
That! That thatch there! That's the thatch that flaps.
Kith and kin keep me cool, kindred spirits coalesce.

1d - Imagery

The wind wraps enormous arms around me,
It's whispers slide gracefully through my hair,
Tickling fingertips run down my spine,
One shiver and I'm caught in its snare.

1e - Metaphors

She drowned in a sea of happy tears.
No battlement was stronger than the walls around her heart.
Love was her drug of choice and she longed for it.
Dreams are the constant thieves of my slumber.

1f - Onomatopoeia

The snap, crackle, and pop of her breakfast made the child laugh.
Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! The alligator glides through the swamp.
The hail started pinging off the tin roof.
That pig constantly oinks!

1g - Personification

The moon cries fluffy tears against a frozen night.
Our night together is always creeping into my thoughts.
The memories of what he had done began to eat at him.
The universe ignored all of life’s attempts at destruction.

1h - Rhythm and Meter

1i - Simile

Each Lego was like a dagger as I groped my way through the dark.
The abandoned house called to me like the song of a siren.
We decided that, at some point, continuing to try was like struggling in quicksand.
My hatred is smoldering inside me like last night's fire.
