It's inside
Every writer knows
Just waiting
to be found

A story waits
poem or prose
buried......
But around

Deep inside
The psyche
waiting
To be born

But like
The pain of childbirth
Pain of writing
Must be borne

And so it's easy
To delay
Distract
Or just give up

For to tear oneself
wide open
is what's in
the writer's cup

A writer's
like a surgeon
Operating
On herself

She must
Peel away her cover
To mine
The story's wealth

It may
Take blood
Or sweat
or tears

It may
Take days
Or weeks
Or years

It's worth
The fight
Stay true
Be bold

For what's
Inside
Is
Writer's gold
