The Genesis Poem

By Lisa Ann Noe*Cat2*

He painted a great picture with a stroke of his hand

His canvas was earth and his creation was this land

Created he birds, fowl, and every sort of animal

Along with the fish, the creeping thing, even the devil.

He blew his great breath to all of the surround

He fashioned a scoop of earth from the ground

Another breath did he blow on the dirt

And alive was a man in a garden to work

This man was alone none like he did exist.

Surely the Creator would not make him resist.

Asleep he fell and from his bone a woman was made

This is your mate she is made of you and is not afraid.

The devil did watch these goings on all.

He vowed then to make the woman fall

A baby she’d have in pain she would feel

The man would work hard in a garden he’d till.

The brother would rise up against his kin

His brother he’d slay it’d be the second sin

First being defiance of the Lord

That ‘s why a man must die by the sword.

But yet the Lord stays with us day after day

Many will follow his lead in that way

In the future the past will come to life

Because God has promised an afterlife.
