A new poem form that I read about in a magazine.
My Mary

I know I will never forget my precious Mary.
She lived her life giving me all the love she had.
And no one ever knew that she was a
scared, starving, white-haired kitten, so little
that she could snuggle up with a baby lamb.
Every morning, she would sit near my clock to listen for its
ringing. After a simple meal, she would return to her box with a fleece
blanket to enjoy a happy nap as was
her habit. She would lick her white
fur and then settle down. I went to work as
content as I could be, knowing that my joy was safe from the deadly throes of snow.

This is a Golden Shovel poem form as explained by Robert Brewer in the latest Writer’s Digest Magazine.
It is a poem form presented by Terrance Hayes that uses each word in the first line of any poem at the end of a line for your poem. I chose “Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow.”
