Once in a few dozen poems I write one that even sort of stumps me, Enjoy this weirdness :) |
-With Eyes To See- by Keaton Foster Like a monkey In a circus Chained to fate Held in place Strangers come Paying a small fee To be entertained By just another primate Such a show Makes them feel better Superior They wish to be When in fact Inferior they seem With eyes to see They are blind Fools in kind Twice as mild As the weakest storm They have no gumption They just want something But such a something Is without question Unobtainable They don’t know Nor do they understand They just follow suite One to the next Through the door Admiring monkeys Laughing At what is imagined At what is refracted Distorted It would appear in view The reflection Does indeed bleed With eyes to see They are blind At the truth they scream Weak and sick Spiritually omnipotent They are convinced That their shit don’t stink To high hell it does Disgusting Truly repulsive The ring master Whips them into a frenzy Look over here Stare over there See without your eyes And I’ll show you You’ll come to know Who is the real master Of this human sideshow I’ll give you only a clue It is neither you Or these animals presented With eyes to see Blind you are indeed You came here willingly Foolishly you paid the fee Entertainment was offered Containment is guaranteed There is nothing for you Beyond this open door The threshold was crossed There is no going back There is just here and now Just us Creatures with broken features Animals burdened by Such suggestible natures With eyes to see You will remain sightless Fate has delivered Faith has been rescinded Darkness like this Is forever to be wicked Step right on up You paid the price The show continues Such a performance Awe inspiring… With Eyes To See Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. |
