a poem of lost love
Abyss by Sophia A Hogg{/i}

What is life if not to love, to be kissed by the angels from heavens above.
Love is divine, love is bliss but love can be dark, lost in abyss.
Unrequited love is ache, a tempest of torture for you they forsake.
If life is love then pass me the gun, for in this life I have none.

Love was mine once and I bathed in its shine, but another came and took what was mine.
With cunning ways and dazzling lies, the light was diminished from my eyes.
Now life is barren and colours are dull, emptiness echoes in a heart that was full.
Darkness beckons and shadows claim, a wasted life, a lover's shame.

If love is to live I beg show me the way, for this fog thickens with each passing day.
Show me reprieve. Send me your strength. Save me from darkness, let life commences!
I yearn to breath, to throw down this weight, take my life back before it's too late.
But darkness is strong, it sings a sweet song, whispering, 'Come with us it won't take long.'
