This is a "Where I'm From" poem that I had to write for my class. |
I'm from a dark, dark city. I'm from a city of dark deeds And foul murders, And robberies, And friends who are never seen again, Hope hangs upon a thread. I'm from a family that is no more For their bright lights where snuffed out. I'm from a huge inheritance From my father, who said to use it well. And well I did. For I am the night. Oh wait... No, I lied. I'm from the dusty library With stacks and stacks of adventures Waiting for me! It sits on an old French cobbled road. I'm from kindly neighbors who sing “Good Morning!” I'm from a scientist, who cannot invent even the wheel, But I'm from his kindly heart and jolly soul. I'm from a prison cell That holds me because of self-sacrifice. I'm from a beastly man, Who needs only my love to be saved. Oh wait... No, I lied. I'm from an overpopulated city in Japan. I'm from a small little family Who hate that I'm from poor grades and Many tears shed for no reason. I'm from a little black cat who talks. I'm from a sisterhood of saviors Who have been reborn to save the Human Race. I'm from a line of Princesses of the Moon Who fight the evil souls who only destroy. Oh wait... No, I lied. I'm actually from a little city in Michigan, Where farms spread out as far as the eye can see. I'm from the crisp, pickle smelling fall air That signify the beginning of the Football season. I'm from a small family Who have loved every tantrum And sassy sentence spouted out. Who have fixed every broken heart And every broken dream. I'm from a world where heroes like Batman, Belle, and, Sailor Moon Do not exist. I'm from a world where evil doesn't stop when the TV goes off Or where evil can be stopped by a random magical being. I'm from the all the sorrows, tears, and pain Of the cruel world Which never seem to cease. I'm from the little single flame of hope that remains. I'm from the true, everyday heroes like Police Officers Parents, and Soldiers Who fight the good fight everyday. I'm from the real world. |
