Poem about triumphant love
From the Darkness

When I was lost in utter darkness
You came with a candlelight
I still could not see clearly
but you said it would be alright

As time grew you fostered the flame
and more and more it grew
until one day I could see your frame
and beauty I never knew

You held your hand out to me
I was so scared to hold on
Scared that what was left of my heart
would surely soon be gone

I have nothing to give, I said with my eyes
I still don't know if you read them
but you were relentless and ceased my cries
and something inside me awakened

The warmth of love filled my veins
It energized my soul
It lifted my spirit and soothed my pains
It made me feel whole

How could I deserve this gift
the patience and innocence of your smile
My life has suddenly gone adrift
and everything feels worthwhile

The darkness dissipates around me
consumed by the fire of love
We emerge together, victoriously
I could have never survived it alone
