my tribute to WDC |
Writing dot com is the site which actually taught me how to write. I have been writing since I was 12. On the 14th of August 2005, I was surfing through the internet as I did not have any class then. My college (the place I did my A-levels from) had a library loaded with books. One corner of the library had two or three computers for the students. I sat in that corner, listlessly toying with a strand of my hair. That's when this wonderful site caught my eye. I just signed up as a free member, and posted a poem I had written a few days ago as an English assignment. "Worlds apart" . Just the next day, I got a very encouraging review from someone called Crumbled Cookie. Day by day, I fell in love with this site. The features are updated on a regular basis. The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress definitely know how to keep us entertained. Thank you both so much for all you do. It means a lot for ardent writers like myself. The StoryMistress has some fabulous artwork in her portfolio. Gosh! You really are a very talented person. I also enjoy reading about your pets. Sometimes I surf into both of your ports just to get a glimpse of Jack and Phoebe. I just love kids you know, and those are two of the cutest little ones I know of. Before coming here, I hardly knew anything about the art of reviewing. Now I not only enjoy it,I'm also learning new techniques to make it better everyday. Friends are like lights in winter. The older the friend, the brighter the light. SHERRI GIBSON is not just a friend. She's my mentor, my guide, my virtual Mom. Love you Sherri, thank you for everything. kiyasama first taught me how to use graphics and images here. I miss many of the interesting contests and activities you used to host. I loved "A Picture is worth a Thousand Words" or "The Artist's Auction." I also bought my first signature from you. The various online writing courses offered here has helped me develop in many ways over the years. I don't know why, but I could never finish any of the writing courses attempted so far. I'm always willing to learn new things, and here in WDC, fun and learning never ends. The various types of items that can be created here help me explore different types of writing everyday. The interactive items, campfire creatives, user polls, campfire creatives...there are thousands of ways to stay connected together. The only genre I tend to avoid is Erotica. So I stay away from items 18+ and above. Other than that, I'm a voracious reader, and WDC satisfies my hunger of reading well. Harddrive was one of the first friends I had made. Scottie's port had some wonderful friendship stories. I miss him. ShellySunshine I miss you too, my dear friend. You are a very talented jewelery designer. I still have a necklace you gave me. A snail mail from WDC just made my day. It's the first mail I got from WDC. Two things always make me happy - books and letters in envelopes. The WDC anniversary card has a calender on it, and each page of the calender has a writing prompt on it. What more could I ask for? Love you, my virtual family. |
