A poem about writing, purpose, questions, and the failure to accept what most do. |
-This Ain’t No Lie- by Keaton Foster Telescopic Inferences Bombastic References Quasi happenstance Turned upon its head Each and every bit of it Lending me some relevance Please know This ain’t no lie Nor would it need to be The truth Is my only God My deity of blasphemy There of course are others Gods meant for the masses Gods upon their own crosses Ones that I have no need for Ones that I have no time for Sure I know that I’ll pay Whatever the sum Of all of my actions Easily I’ll offer it up I am here On this earth This solo rock spinning In the motionless sky To do what I do To speak every damn truth Even if no one hears me Even if no one cares for me I’ll just keep doing it What must be done As I of course see it This ain’t not lie These words are like stones By themselves pointless Unused in purpose But together They can build anything Of meaning and significance Sure I don’t always make sense Sure what I mean is not so clear Some of this is all filler And very little thriller Busy hands are busy Idles hands are lazy A wicked mind Runs in parallel With a crooked spine A hardened heart beats Against the pain faced Life is about living Regardless of grievance Something once said to me I should have listened This ain’t no lie This is the truth As best as I know it As sure as I understand it I stand at odds with any god I stand at odds with any man Most of all myself I pose the questions That either is willing to ask I push the boundaries of myself And of my fellow kind I simply have to There is nothing else Nothing that I am comfortable with Nothing that I am willing forgive I’ll pay dearly I am quite sure of that God is only so kind God only forgives so much He has taught me much Probably more than most His lessons have jaded me All while inspiring me Thus I ask all that I can Between the folds of each line This ain’t no lie Nor will it ever be… This Ain’t No Lie Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. |
