What did you dream when you were young? Do you still dream of those fantasies?
Childhood Dreams

A boy sat, legs crisscrossed, on the floor.
Toys in hand. Greatness in his mind
As he swings them through the air.
He dreams of them, sees himself in their shoes:
Champions, Paragons, Heroes
The man he wishes to be.
The man he wished to become.

The same boy, now a man,
Looks back on his childhood self.
He remembers his dreams,
He remembers his desires,
-To be a Champion-
-To be a Paragon-
-To be a Hero-

-To be someone’s Hero-

The man filled with nostalgia,
He does not frown.
He does not regret.
He smiles.
He knows his dreams:
Of being a fantastical hero
Were idle fancies; but he smiles

He knows that a hero is more than
A questing champion with a sword and shield in hand.
He may not be that fantasy.
But he can still be a hero his past would dream of
With a toy of his future self in his hand.

A hero has honor.
A hero has courage.
A hero has compassion.
A hero has pride within humility.

He may not be the paragon of these traits,
But he strives for it and does his best.

He hopes.
He knows.

One day he will be a hero for another.
One day one can be a hero for another.
