It's been a couple weeks since we had our big day a big performance that brought the first ten years of the life of a bell choir to an end Our second decade has begun and last night during our rehearsal we began pulling ourselves together for Christmas eve a time when we will celebrate a birth a new life that has given all of us our faith And we played our bells and we prayed yes we prayed we prayed for all of humanity And you were fighting a bladder infection and you were in pain Our prayers went out to you our prayers went out to a college student struggling to decide on a major our prayers went out to a friend who lost her grandson And we played our bells and we prayed yes we prayed we prayed for all of humanity And as I stood there for a moment in the silence of prayer I could feel so much overwhelming my heart for loosing a grandchild is hard and breaks a persons heart for I've never experienced a bladder infection but I've heard they are nasty for I know what it's like to be a struggling college student trying to find their major trying to find their place in the world And we played our bells and we prayed yes we prayed we prayed for all of humanity And so I sit myself down as we pray on this black stool sitting behind me and I bend over in prayer for those who have lost loved ones I pray for those who will loose loved ones this holiday season that they find some positive in the season I pray for those in pain that their pain will fade I pray for the poor, struggling college students who are looking for the place they belong so they may find their place in this world I pray for those who are hurting in ways unknown that they find comfort that they find help in ways they never expected and I pray for those overseas, away from family and friends that they feel appreciated and I pray everyone feels loved and I give thanks for everything I have I pray and I give thanks for everything we have here I give thanks for everything I can enjoy I give thanks for friends and family and for my life |
