What is the matter
My dear friend the Moon
Why tonight
Are you off to bed so soon
You always shine so bright
Keeping your sadness out of sight
Tonight you do not seem right
As if tragic news
gave you a fright
It just came to light
that your daughter passed in flight
My dear friend the Moon
now I know why you went to bed so soon
I wish I could reach out and hold you tight
To bring you joy
would be such a delight
Sadly I will never reach you
Try as I might
You are now turning your face
And disappearing into the dark of night
My dear friend the Moon
please talk to me
No need to go to bed so soon.
