If you have ever been in love, then you know that such a thing is forever no matter what.

Love
Enough
Caring
So daring
Our relationship
Once thrived
Now abolished
Laid to ruin
Taken from our hearts
Placed upon a mantel
A trophy for another
One easily distracted
He has since moved on
A predictable adulterer
Whose only intention
Was purely sexual
A man of conquest
A man lacking respect
In due time
God will deal with him
At least I have faith
That he will
For us
You and I
The damaged was done
Too much to be fixed
Impossible such a repair
Quickly moving on
Singing another’s song
It’s not the truest love
But it’s close enough
A sustainable facsimile
But I know
Rest assured
There is only ever one
One light in all darkness
One absolute per lifetime
Now seen only in retrospect
A love that can never be again
Carried always
I have no idea
Where it is you are at
Or of what you’ve become
I know nothing
Except for one thing
That in the simplest of way
I still and always will
Have feelings for you
What you did
And how you acted
Can never be forgiven
But over the years
It has somehow lessened
Dealing has become easier
Understanding is now possible
Time heals most open wounds
But there will always be
Scars that must remain
I hope that you’re happy
Just as I had hoped
That you were before
I hold no ill feelings
Not one that matters
I guess that’s the best
I could have wished
Carried always
Inside my heart
Inside my mind
The weight of our past
And what we once had
Burdened by my very soul
Something that I know
Regardless of what happened
For you and I
I must never put it down
I must never stop carrying
Such a load…
